Suryakumar Yadav was born in Hathouda village in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off-break bowler who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and the Indian cricket team.
Yadav's family moved to Mumbai when he was 10 years old. He continued to play cricket in Mumbai and joined the Elf Vengsarkar Academy, run by former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar. He also played age-group cricket for Mumbai.
Yadav made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2009. He scored 108 runs in his debut match. He has since gone on to score over 5,000 runs in first-class cricket. He has also played List A and Twenty20 cricket for Mumbai.
Yadav made his international debut for India in 2019. He has played 10 ODIs and 14 T20Is for India so far. He has scored 237 runs in ODIs and 376 runs in T20Is.
